The purpose of New Roots is: a) Minister to and with immigrant/refugee peoples in order to help them with their physical, spiritual and emotional needs.  b)  Serve as a link or bridge between the Anglo evangelical church in the Sioux Falls area and the immigrant/refugee pastors and churches. 

The ministry intends to minister to and with the immigrant/refugee peoples in the following ways: a) recruitment and training of mentors/advocates; b) on-site Bible study and English as Second Language classes where the people live and possibly work; c) organization of youth activities with biblical content; d) community development;  e) counseling and prayer ministry for families and individuals in crisis;  f) recruitment and support for individuals/couples living in the apartment complexes for ministry purposes;  g) education for the area churches concerning the history of and the issues facing the immigrant/refugee peoples.

This ministry and position will provide a much needed connecting link between other evangelical churches and the immigrant/refugee pastors and their churches and can assist in the following ways: a) making pastors and church members more aware of the ministry resources available to them;  b) guiding pastors and church members in contributing their own gifts and resources for Kingdom purposes  c) locating possible worship spaces;  d) making particular needs known, e.g. extensive water damage, so that burdens can be shared;  e) organizing all nations prayer gatherings.
